Destinee Wright: Hello, beautiful people! Recently, I had a chance to chat with some small businesses at the farmers market in Holly Springs, NC, including Tyrone Hightower of Apex Seafood and Market.

Tyrone, what has your experience been as a small business here in Holly Springs?

Tyrone Hightower: My experience has been that the clientele here are very dedicated and willing to try a variety of products and seafood that I sell. I just like to expose everyone to what our coast has to offer. I drive down to the North Carolina coast every Friday and, if there's a bigger order, I drive down more often to procure the freshest seafood from the fishermen. So what I do is that I keep in contact with them throughout the week, find out what they have that's fresh, and either have them fillet it up for me or bring it back home for the local farmers market.

Destinee: What has the last year been like for your business?

Tyrone: I actually saw a pickup in my business because when the grocery stores ran out of protein sources, I was there to pick up the slack. So in addition to bringing seafood to the farmers market, I was able to get beef. I was able to get poultry. I was able to get cheeses. I was able to get basically anything and everything that everybody wanted. And I also changed up my business model because before that, I was not even doing preorders.

Destinee: What do you love about this particular farmers market?

Tyrone: This group in Holly Springs, they're very dedicated, and they were very welcoming to me. I came here over two years now. From day one, even though they didn't know me, they trusted me and trusted my seafood. And this is by far my best farmers market that I do.

Destinee: That's awesome. So how can the people support you? Where can they find you?

Tyrone: People can support me by visiting me not only at the Holly Springs Farmers Market, but the Apex Farmers Market, the Midtown Farmers’ Market, the Black Farmers’ Market and the Moore Square farmers market. In addition to preordering with me online or either sending me a direct message via Facebook or Instagram

Destinee: Well, thank you so much for your time today.

Tyrone: Thank you very much!

Destinee: Of course! Best of luck with your business!

Tyrone: Thank you very much.

Whoops, you shouldn’t be seeing this. Go to the proper link here.
