Bernie Vogel: This is an idea of my wife and I had when we first got married.

We've always had a passion to open our own business and, in particular, my wife was a very gifted baker. And we thought that someday we'd like to have a little place of our own.

We are an artisanal bakery, so when something comes out of the oven, we can create awareness for it immediately. With the advent of social networking, things like Facebook and Instagram, we've been able to create awareness for our product through various postings.

There's nothing more rewarding then when a man comes into the bakery and says, "My wife sent me in here for two of the things you just put on Facebook." So we know that it's working. And that would not have been possible with traditional print media and advertising.

Having the internet go down is really problematic for a business like mine because we depend so much on it for our point-of-sale system (which is cloud based), our telephone system (which is Voice over IP based), and, of course, all of our marketing initiative initiatives are driven by the internet. So connectivity and reliable service are very, very critical, mission critical even, to a small business like ours.
